Voice Therapy

For voice function, comfort and reliability

Voice therapy is a clinical service delivered by a qualified speech pathologist and follows the professional standards set by Speech Pathology Australia, including assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based intervention and outcome measurement. Voice therapy supports people whose voice is not functioning as comfortably, reliably or efficiently as it should — whether for everyday communication, professional voice use or performance.

Who Voice Therapy Is For

Voice therapy supports adults and children experiencing changes in voice function, comfort, stamina or reliability. We work with people who use their voice every day — for communication, learning, work or performance — and who are experiencing voice difficulties that impact how their voice feels or functions.

Voice Concerns We Support

Voice therapy may support people experiencing:

  • Vocal nodules, polyps or cysts

  • Vocal fold hemorrhage

  • Vocal fold swelling and chronic laryngitis

  • Muscle tension dysphonia

  • Professional and occupational voice fatigue

  • Stress-related voice changes

  • Gender-affirming voice & communication

  • Recovery after illness, overuse or vocal injury

  • Pre and post-operative voice care

  • Parkinson’s disease (LSVT LOUD®)

Performing Arts Voice Speciality

Vocolove has a particular interest in performing arts voice, supporting singers, performers and creative professionals whose voices are central to their work alongside everyday speakers. Therapy is designed to restore healthy vocal function without compromising artistic goals, and to support safe return to rehearsal, performance and recording. Where appropriate, therapy may sit alongside or transition into structured voice coaching once vocal health and function are stable.

What to Expect: The Therapy Pathway

Voice therapy follows a structured, evidence-based pathway aligned with clinical best practice.

Your pathway may include:

  • An initial voice therapy assessment, exploring vocal history, current concerns, vocal demands and functional impact

  • ENT referral, where indicated, for visual examination of the vocal folds

  • An individualised therapy plan, targeting efficiency, coordination, comfort and reliability

  • Review and progress monitoring, ensuring changes are transferable to daily life, work and performance

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration, where appropriate, with allied health professionals such as psychologists, physiotherapists or other providers, recognising the complex interaction between voice, body and nervous system

ENT Collaboration

Some voice presentations require collaborative care with an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist to ensure safe and appropriate management. Where indicated, referrals will be discussed clearly and supported throughout the process. Therapy may occur before, alongside or following ENT assessment, depending on individual needs.

Fees, Medicare & Private Health

Voice therapy sessions are eligible for private health insurance rebates where your policy includes speech pathology. Invoices are provided for clients to claim directly with their health fund. Medicare rebates may be available with a valid Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) from your GP. Please note that Medicare rebates apply only to eligible therapy services and a gap fee will apply. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible for rebates, this can be clarified prior to your appointment, and you’ll be guided on any steps required before commencing therapy.

  • Voice Therapy Assessment: 45 minutes + clinical documentation - $180 ins GST

  • Voice Therapy Review Sessions: 45 minutes + clinical notes - $180 inc GST
