Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my coaching session 45 minutes? Can I do a full hour?
Each client receives a full hour of dedicated time each week, structured to reflect how vocal skills are most effectively learned. Sessions include 45 minutes of focused, high-quality coaching, followed by 15 minutes allocated to creating your personalised practice plan, including reflection notes and a progress summary sent via email on the same day as your session. This model is grounded in motor learning and voice science: real, sustainable change happens between sessions through consistent, targeted practice, not by extending in-session time beyond the voice’s natural capacity for focused, healthy work.
Why is the Integrated Voice Journey recommended for singers?
Singing involves far more complex motor and artistic demands than everyday speech. Pitch accuracy, range, resonance control, stamina, stylistic choices and expressive delivery all require time, repetition and integration. The 12-week format provides the space needed for sustainable technique development, repertoire exploration and embodied performance confidence.
Can I combine spoken and singing goals in one program?
Yes. Many clients use their voice across multiple contexts - singing, professional speaking, teaching, presenting or performing and these skills are deeply interconnected. While singing and speaking have different technical demands, they share core foundations such as breath-voice coordination, vocal efficiency, stamina, resonance and nervous system regulation. When approached intentionally, work in one area often supports progress in the other. For this reason, the 12-week Journey is the most effective option if you’d like to integrate both singing and speaking goals. The extended format allows time to establish strong foundations, layer context-specific skills, and support sustainable, transferable vocal change without overload.
How do I know whether I need voice coaching or voice therapy?
Voice coaching is for people whose voice feels comfortable and healthy, and who want to build strength, stamina, expression or technique. Voice therapy is a clinical service for individuals experiencing discomfort, fatigue, strain, unpredictable vocal quality or a diagnosed voice disorder. If concerns arise during coaching, you’ll be guided with transparency and care toward appropriate clinical assessment.
Do I need to be an experienced singer or speaker to start a Journey?
No. These programs support people at every stage, from beginners building foundations to seasoned performers preparing for high-level demands. The work is completely personalised to your goals, experience and learning style. What is essential, however, is commitment. These Journeys are not casual or drop-in lessons. They require consistent attendance, follow-through and respect for the process. If you’re ready to show up fully, stay accountable, and see the program through, I will meet you there with the same level of dedication. That’s where real, lasting change happens.
What if I’m a professional performer or speaker with an upcoming deadline?
Your program can be tailored to support auditions, recordings, presentations or performance seasons.
You’ll receive clear practice priorities, warm-ups and application strategies that help you feel prepared and confident.
What if I need more time than 8 or 12 weeks? Many clients continue into ongoing coaching once their Journey is complete.
Your End-of-Program Integration Summary includes personalised recommendations for continued growth, and you’re welcome to book additional sessions or begin a new cycle.
What happens if I miss a session?
Sessions may be rescheduled with appropriate notice. Late cancellations or repeated absences disrupt progress and are managed in line with your booking terms. Our full studio cancellation policy will be emailed to you with your Welcome Pack.
Is there a student discount?
Yes. A 10% student discount is available for university students with valid student identification. This can be applied to individual sessions and Journey programs.
Are online sessions as effective as in-person coaching?
Yes. Modern voice coaching and therapy translate extremely well to Zoom. Many clients prefer the convenience, improved focus and easy integration of practice resources.
What if I’m nervous about singing or speaking in front of someone?
This is incredibly common. Your sessions are warm, encouraging and grounded in psychological safety. We start exactly where you are and build confidence gradually and respectfully.
Do the programs include homework?
Yes, but it’s simple, achievable and personalised. The GVM Workbook provides clear practice logs, mindset prompts and habit-stacking tools so you know exactly what to focus on without feeling overwhelmed.
Is this program suitable for children or teens?
The Journey programs are designed for adults and older teens who are ready for structured coaching, independent practice and the deeper personal work involved in the Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™. For younger singers, developing voices or performers under 16, I offer specialised children’s and youth sessions through the Young Voices service. These are tailored to their age, vocal development, learning needs and creative goals.
What if I have a diagnosed voice disorder?
If you have an existing medical diagnosis (e.g., nodules, paresis, muscle tension dysphonia), voice therapy is recommended first. A clinical assessment ensures you receive safe, evidence-based support. Coaching may complement therapy once your voice is stable.
