The Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™
A three-phase framework to help singers and speakers build healthy, skilled and expressive voices.
The Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™ is the framework that guides how I support you to grow, strengthen, and truly understand your voice. This approach it isn’t a technique or a set of vocal exercises, it’s the foundation that shapes your learning journey - personalised, evidence-informed, and grounded in real human experience.
For years, my approach to voice work was highly intuitive. This natural intuition has been shaped by my performance career, my coaching background, and simply meeting the person in front of me where they were.
Through formal study and ongoing refinement, those instincts have now become a clear, structured, research-aligned framework.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from working with hundreds of singers, speakers, and voice users is this:
lasting vocal change isn’t just about technique. Real transformation comes from understanding the layers of your voice, feeling safe in your body, shifting unhelpful mindset patterns, and exploring the beliefs and identity pieces that sit underneath your sound. That’s why the Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™ brings together three perspectives: clinical principles, vocal training expertise, and lived performance experience to create a multidimensional, whole person approach to voice development.
What is the Grounded Voice Method™?

The Vocolove Grounded Voice Method ™
A three-phase approach to voice care, skill development and expressive freedom.

The Three Phases of Your Voice Journey
Your voice is multidimensional. Your vocal habits are shaped by your body, lifestyle, personality and mindset. Our voices are always moving, adapting and changing. Across all three phases, the work is tailored to YOU - your goals, your background, your learning style and your unique vocal story. Using a cyclical, responsive approach, the framework simply gives us a clear, safe, and evidence-informed pathway that adapts as you do.
At its heart, the Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™ is about helping you understand your voice, care for it, and fully inhabit it in a way that feels sustainable, empowering, and uniquely yours.
1
Sustain
Before we build range, resonance, power or expression, we use clinical principles to build stability.
We begin by establishing functional vocal health and a reliable baseline. This phase focuses on restoring balance in the voice system through:
-
Evidence-based voice therapy principles
-
Breath efficiency and respiratory-phonatory coordination
-
Vocal load awareness and energy pacing
-
Reducing excess muscular tension and compensatory habits
-
Supporting vocal fold closure patterns that feel sustainable
This is where your voice learns to work with your body, rather than against it. The goal is ease, steadiness, and a sense of the voice feeling supported, not effortful.
Your outcome:
A voice that feels RELIABLE -clear, supported, stable and free from strain, even on busy or demanding days.
2
Retrain
Once we have stability, we expand capability through voice training.
Here we reshape vocal patterns so they align with your goals. Through a motor learning approach, we introduce new coordinations and practice them in real-world communication or performance contexts.
This phase may include:
-
Refining tone, resonance, and vocal colour
-
Developing reliable breath to sound connection
-
Strengthening stamina, agility, or projection capacity
-
Repatterning old habits and building adaptable new ones
-
Integrating technique so it becomes second nature
Training is structured, supported, and intentionally repetitive, the kind that rewires patterns, not just teaches “tips.”
Your outcome:
Technical skill that feels embodied and transferable. Your voice responds when you need it, not just when conditions are perfect.
3
Reclaim
Using artistry and performance, we discover how your voice becomes yours again.
Here we integrate identity, confidence, and expression so your voice reflects who you are and what you want to say.
We explore:
-
Authenticity and vocal identity
-
Expression, nuance, artistry or presence
-
Communication mindset and emotional safety
-
Trust in your voice, not just control
-
Embodying your message, your sound, your story
-
Mindset strategies to identify limiting beliefs that may be holding you back
This is the phase where your voice becomes not just functional and skilled, but lived.
Your outcome:
A voice that feels like home; grounded, expressive, confident, and fully aligned with how you want to be seen and heard.
How this method came to be
I never planned on becoming a vocal coach, a performer, or a speech pathologist. What led me here was curiosity - the kind that quietly followed me from childhood, when I’d sit with my first Casiotone MT-140 keyboard, teaching myself melodies and wondering what my voice could become. Curiosity guided me into my first piano and singing lessons, into teaching my very first singing student at 19, into years of performing, and eventually into studying the science behind how the voice works. That gentle pull to explore, to understand, to go deeper, shaped everything that has become Vocolove. Over time, that curiosity grew into a calling to support people in a holistic way, to understand the voice through both artistry and clinical science, and to create a framework that empowers people to use their voice with freedom, trust, and authenticity. That framework is now the Vocolove Grounded Voice Method™.
